It’s that time of the year again; Opening Match day at Anfield. To kick of their 2018/19 Premiere League campaign Jürgen Klopp’s men welcome the hammers to Anfield for what is touted to be a great season for Liverpool FC. Bookmakers have placed Liverpool as favourites to challenge Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City for the Premiere League title and rightly so.
After a quite anti-climatic UCL campaign the reds have ben impressive in recruiting talent this summer with defensive midfielder Fabinho joining from AS Monaco as little as 48 hours after the disappointing scenes in Kiev. Naby Keita completed his promised moved on the first of July and Xherdan Shaqiri joined in as well from stoke for a mere 13 million. The mega money sigining of the summer was Brazil’s number one in between the sticks, Alisson Becker. It was evident a keeper would be headed in after the horror show in Kiev. However, Jack Butland and Nick Pope were the names doing the rounds in the papers. The transfer of Alisson speaks about the ambition sowed by the Liverpool recruitment team under Klopp. Michel Edwards bashed out a 56 million pound deal in Rome beating Chelsea to the signing of the Brazillian.
This Sunday the Anfield faithful will se Naby Keita and Alison Becker make their competitive debuts. The real concern however stems in the defensive compartment with Klopp facing an injury crisis. Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are in a race against time to befit. While, Dejan Lovren has returned this past week with stomach muscle issues. Academy Gradate Phillips has been put on stand by to make his debut as well. With the transfer window now shut Jürgen must work with what he has till January at least. Additionally, new signing Fabinho suffered a knock midweek and will most likely start the season off the bench. The surprise package Shaqiri will playa vital role in Klopp’s tactics this season and all most likely start off the bench as well.
As for West Ham, they have appointed Premiere League winner Manuel Pellegirni over the summer. West ham have also made some great signings this summer with the most lucrative being Felipe Anderson from Lazio. The Brazillian joins for 40 million euros and will be one to keep an eye out for on Sunday. However, the real threat in the Hammers’ side comes in the for of Marko Arnautovic. Marko has had an astounding pre season scoring for fun at times. He has been a revelation since his move from stoke and could cause some major problems at the back for Liverpool and debutant Alisson.
Predicted Line up:-
Liverpool XI: Alisson; Clyne, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Milner, Wijnaldum, Keita; Mane, Salah, Firmino
West Ham XI: Fabianski; Fredericks, Diop, Ogbonna, Cresswell; Rice, Noble, Wilshere; Anderson, Antonio, Arnautovic
Score:- We will go for a 3-1 Liverpool win. Two out of the front three for Liverpool should score . With Liverpool conceding a scrappy goal as well.
